The Sigiriya Rock Climb is strenuous but not difficult. There are 1200 steps to the top. The climb will take between 2-3 hours depending on your fitness and the crowds at the time.

#1 is spectacular! I wonder where the path goes from the staircase. I couldn't discover it.

The path is behind that "yellow ribbon" underneath the metal staircase. The metal staircase goes up and down just to see some frescoes inside the mountain.

That spiral staircase in #7 is something else! Glad you were safe from the wasps. :)

1200 steps . I would have to go either early early in the morning (like first one there) or right before closing no way would it take me 2-3 hours more like 4-6 hours. That is quite a cool view though.

Great photos but I would have been scared of the idea of wasps suddenly swarming.  They scare me.

And it is not the first time they attack people during the climbing. "Since the recent colonization, no bees attacks have been recorded the
local guide said. He said two years ago a child died due to an attack by
the bees and there were occasions they had to assist stranded visitors
on the rock during an attack. Although there is an enclosure covered by
mesh (bee hide) close to the Lion’s Paw where the visitors could find
safety during an attack it was too small to accommodate the crowd he
said" - Sunday Times.
Actually I did not see a single bee. smile bee

You weren't kidding in your last comment about stairs. Mama mia those are some stairs! I am definitely going pass. Photo #6 made my stomach drop, you know like when you are on a roller coaster? And then I saw #7 and knew that this would not be for me. So I thank you very much for sharing this place with us, since the Sigiriya Rock Climb would not have seen the whites of my eyes 😀

It looks like it’d be a serious workout... with a serious loss of breath. 😬

It also looks like a beautiful place though!
