Ruins

a poem by Ronald Stuart Thomas

And this was a civilization
That came to nothing--he spurned with his toe
The slave-coloured dust. We breathed it in
Thankfully, oxygen to our culture.

Somebody found a curved bone
In the ruins. A kings probably,
He said. Imperfect courtiers
We eyed it, the dropped kerchief of time.

O enorme elefante
É o animal mais infeliz
Da floresta

Todos
Até a pulga minúscula
E Asquerosa
Lhe trepam no lombo

Homem que engole tudo
É como o pobre elefante:
De nada lhe vale
Ser trombudo

I agree with you. This is a huge place and the ruins are scattered all over the place.

Look at the world map to see the continent. One more guess. smile It's a small country.

I bet in Portugal you give people THREE chances and not only 2! smile Like in the rest of the world...
There's that palm... that makes me think it's a place for tourist... Let's pretend you are a good man, and not included the islands... We know there are no monkeys in Haiti, and in Cuba...
So... we need to look for a small state in the Continent...
The smallest is Belize... Belize has palms, alligators, monkeys, and it's a sunny place.
So are all the others around there... But Panama is really modern, and I cannot picture you there... you've been to Japan... enough modernity for a decade...
And Costa rica is soooo for tourist...
Could you give me a hint, while I bet on BELIZE as my SECOND chance??? (Still one... COME OOOOON PLEEASEEEEEEE one more!) smile

Costa Rica is not for tourists in wet season. smile And fortunately, it didn't rain while I was there. I can tell you it was one of the most amazing countries I've ever visited. Well done my friend

Thanks Abigail. Ruin images can be very boring so I try to give them some "punch".
