♫♫ June Carter Cash - Gatsby's Restaurant ♫♫

I was eating in a Chinese restaurant downtown. There was a dish called Mother and Child Reunion. It's chicken and eggs. And I said, I gotta use that one.

Paul Simon

Metaphysics is a restaurant where they give you a thirty thousand page menu, and no food.

Robert M. Pirsig

A panda walks into a restaurant, sits down and orders a sandwich. He eats the sandwich, pulls out a gun and shoots the waiter dead. As the panda stands up to go, the manager shouts, “Hey! Where are you going? You just shot my waiter and you didn’t pay for your sandwich!” The panda yells back at the manager, “Hey man, I m a PANDA! Look it up!” The manager opens his dictionary and sees the following definition for panda: “A tree dwelling marsupial of Asian origin, characterized by distinct black and white coloring. Eats shoots and leaves.”

The panda story was hilarious...May I ask why the restaurant in your story is named 'Sakura'?

You may ask but I do not have a clue, sorry smile Sakura was the actual name of the restaurant

I was wondering whether it was in any way related to "Sakura", the Japanese word for cherry blossoms...Oh well, the mystery adds interest grinning

Looks like a lovely little restaurant.

It sure was, and the more interesting thing about it was the name of the owner. His name was Silva, which is a typical Portuguese name.

Clever definition and really great photos. My fave is #5 because we are way more alike than we are different 😊

😂 The Panda story is one we used quite a bit in class for grammar purposes. Love Theresa's edit on #1, really adds to the atmosphere of the place. Mr. Silva must have been quite short, since Mrs. Silva doesn't look that tall to me. Anyway, another great series and you are a pretty savvy as a portrait photographer as well. smile

I didn't know that anecdote smile They had almost the same size but a man can never be shorter than his wife - it's kind of a status thing I think (here, of course). Thanks for the compliment to Teresa and me. You're very kind.

Lovely set of daily people and a common place. How was the food?

Very good. It was a buffet and it had rice, many different curries, vegetables, chicken and so on.
