Mystic Theme~~~Small Packages

Colonel Harland David Sanders was an American businessman and restaurateur who founded the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain. Sanders passed through several professions in his lifetime, with mixed success.

In 1939, he devised a method to cook chicken quickly because customers would not wait 45 minutes for a batch to be fried up in an iron pan. Sanders used a pressure cooker, a new invention at the time, to cook chicken in nine minutes. He found that chicken cooked in this manner turned out to be moist and flavorful.

Sanders carefully guarded his secret recipe of herbs and spices, hiring two different suppliers to mix up batches, which he would then combine himself and mail to franchisees.
In 1964, Colonel Sanders sold the KFC Corporation, but the deal didn't include the Canadian operations. Colonel Sanders, bought a modest home in Mississauga Ontario (just outside of Toronto) & lived there from 1964 to his death in 1980. Colonel Sanders moved to Southern Ontario to oversee his Canadian franchises & collect franchise & appearance fees…..

December 5th - “Small Packages”

December 12th -“Sand, Coast, Shells, Waves”

December 19th - “Holiday Greetings”

Back in 1967 I had the pleasure of dining with Colonel Harland Sanders in person. An experience I have never forgotten….
The Kentucky Fried Chicken we get today, is not like the Chicken the Colonel made! He would be very disappointed in what is served today….

A fantastic photo of an American (and Canadian) icon - love that KFC!! (And I love my pressure cooker - I'll have to try fried chicken in it!)

I never knew that he used the pressure cooker for his recipe (I would not trade my pressure cooker for the world LOL) I tasted his chicken when it came to my country and never again....but might be a little better then what McDonalds serves here....
