I think they are too constrained…..
I like more picture and less mat…

I custom frame art all the time, while I do prefer the white mats, they're usually used to draw the eye inward to the art itself. Thin black frames with white mats were considered more of an Asian style at one time. Mat width depends on how large your photo is.

These are great, ArtBee, but I tend to agree with you. Although, I'd say it often depends on the photo....not a one size fits all kind of thing.
