Today I was out and about visiting one of our local primary schools in order to present a science show. It's a great way to meet the students who will be joining us next year and to develop positive relationships within the wider community.
This school however just happened to be a 50 minute barge trip away on one of the nearby islands.
So at the end of the show we grabbed a bite to eat nearby with spectacular views while waiting for the next available barge.
A jetty next to where we would drive our car onto the barge also provided an excellent opportunity for a quick photo.
Also significant about this island is that as of next year all sand mining operations will cease. It is an end of an era in many ways, although much of the equipment can still be seen, especially as you leave at the end of the day.
