Most appetising lunch at the EQUATOR

by Asiamack July. 22, 2011 351 views

I was in Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan province of Indonesia from July 15-19. Pontianak or Ponti as the locals call it, is sitauted right where the Equator line passes the Island of Borneo. Well, the weather was of course very hot. And, the food too was very very hot esp. it's special traditional ‘sambal cobek’ or chilly paste/sauce.

However, I had a very good lunch that day ~ sambal cobek eaten with salads of boiled local leaves, shoots and roots to go with rice. I haven't had second helping of rice for a very long time… but with all these, plus servings of local kampung / village / wild chicken, lunch in this village called ‘Balai Karangan’ near the Indonesian-Malaysian border of Entikong-Tebedu, was an exception. Not to mention additional fried local breed ‘ikan mas’, a type of fresh water fish.

If this is not hotttt…
