What's left of a memory

I enjoyed my week-long stay in Jakarta. Esp so having the opportunity to revisit several of the many of my favourite ‘rumah makan’ or restaurants and savouring, again, the traditional dishes, I so missed.

However, I haven't the chance to enjoy the morning jog or evening stroll in the suburb as my appointments schedule was so tight. In Jakarta, esp with millions of cars and motorcycles and buses and ‘bajais’ and ‘ojeks’, one needs to allocate at least an hour plus of travelling time to reach a destination. The ‘macet’ or traffic jams could be terrible where everything seem to stand still. A friend once advised me, when in Jakarta go for no more than two appointments per day; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

After five years of experiencing such, I now advise friends to make sure that they put up at good hotels while in Jakarta. You would need all the comfort of a good room and shower to rest after the terrible journey in tropical heat.

All said and done, I will always miss Jakarta.

Often times I was at the cafe not for its cappucino or coffee but because it's the only place where internet connection is quite okay. No wi-fi in the room.

Cappucino is okay.

'Nasi Rames' or steamed rice served with veges, ‘hot chili + anchovies sambal’ plus a piece of chicken drumstick and oxtail ‘rendang’ and some crackers and some prawns plus egg omelette… quite a number of plusses here…is one of the best choice. It comes with a bit of everything. But, the sambal is a must!

The room is plush enough for me. The bed so cozy that everytime I lie down… and unknowingly doze off with the London 2012 still on ESPN.

The shower… generous hot and cold water here.
