Washington, DC Fireworks

I'm not sure there is a better place to watch fireworks than in Washington, DC on the mall. This year did not disappoint, with the Washington Monument and US Capitol as a back drop the fireworks show was awesome ..enjoy..

Fireworks fans fill up the Netherlands Carillon which is located between the Arlington National Cemetery and the US Marine Memorial which is also know as the Iwo Jima Memorial.

And it didn't take long for the lawn to fill up. I had sought the advice of several DC media types, their one common piece of advice, get there early. Glad I did.

The sun sets on the Monuments and US Capitol.

When I worked in Washington, DC we were working for the same company at the same time, I never knew him until July 4th. This is John Shinkle, photojournalist for the Politico Newspaper.

Let the fireworks begin. The show lasted about 15 minutes, I overhears some folks say this was a short show, some in the past had lasted 30 minutes.

We watched the D.C fireworks on PBS last night - how great that you got to be there and share these wonderful images with us. My favorite has to be the Iwo Jima memorial - great lighting and angle for the shot. Every time I see the statue, I wonder how anyone could possibly burn the American flag!
