Picturesque Pirano

More info and pictures of PIRAN [slovenia.info]

“Pirano: la più graziosa cittadina di tutta l'Istria”

Piazza Tartini

The late 19th century Town Hall

The huge, oval shaped square by the sea bears the name of Pirano's most famous son, Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770), an acclaimed violinist.

The Venetian House is the oldest preserved building on the square, a 15th century edfice showcasing some remarkable stonemasonry.

Further up in the narrow alleys, more examples of Venetian architecture.

…and some more glimpses into the life of a medieval city in the 21st century.
