Szarvas, Hungary

This beautiful building was built in 1895 for a wealthy landowner, Sandor Lengyel. The building is still referred to as the Lengyel Palace.

Visiting our grandmother's house with my cousin, Marika.

The house and the grounds are in total neglect now, but I could still recognize the mysterious territory that I was so curious to explore as a little child whenever my parents took me there… The building that once housed horses and lambs was burnt out some time ago.

The huge enchanted back yard with fruit trees and poppies and vegetables is now an overgrown, untended wilderness..

The stove is still there, though.
