Cairns - Off the Beaten Path

Do you enjoy white sand beaches, swimming, mountains, snorkling, diving, hiking, outdoor adventures, river cruises, tropical flowers, dining on the harbour with splendid views, fresh seafood, cruising, trains, cable cars, countryside, waterfalls, lakes, tropical rainforest, markets, local crafts, gift shops, gem fossiking .... and more?

Then Cairns is your destination!

Hiring a car is the best and easiest way of visiting off the beaten path places from Cairns. This is a small selection of what you can see going south.

I have separate photo blogs of the places going north.

WOW! Thanks!
I have an old-time Buddy who lives in Brisbane, so that's my primary destination, but I would like to travel around, as well....I'll let you know if I have time to get out your way!

Yes it's about 5 hours from Brissy to Perth.  But Brisbane is nice.  Lots of fantastic pure white sand beaches both north and south.

I love the hike & bike trail along both sides of the river, that runs through town, in Brissy! My buddy has an apartment along the shore of the river, directly across from downtown, with a water taxi station nearby!
