Last stop on our Hong Kong, Canada, USA & Belize holiday. Just off the coast of Belize, Cay Caulker is a paradisiac Island where roads are non existent and you either walk or bike around the island on sandy paths. They do have golf carts to assist us tourists with luggage get from the pier to our accommodation.
We stayed at the Sea Dreams Hotel which has a rooftop bar and breakky area. The best thing about staying here is that a portion of our money is paid to keep the local school running. The location was great with our own nice beach and jetty where you could jump off and snorkle amongst the colourful fish. Another plus was it is near the famous Spit and The Lazy Lizard Bar where Rum Punches were cheaper than water ;)
Hubby and son did some Barracuda fishing and the cruise owners cooked the fish 3 different ways and we sat in the rooftop bar of the Lazy Lizard and had a huge feast overlooking the gorgeous view of the Spit.
There were tables in the water where you could enjoy your drinks and then swim to cool off. Other restaurants had these swinging chairs where we could swing and eat lol. There is also a Sports Bar near the boat jetty so hubby was in his element :)
We all loved Caye Caulker. Eldest son included it on his big backpacker trip last year and agreed with us. If this sounds like your type of holiday destination, don't give it a second thought. Go! :)
