India - Kumarakom - Venice of India

Backwaters and Rice Boats. If you love scenic canals and photography, then Kumarakom in India should be on your 'must see' travel list.

We had spent a few days in Kochi with it's colourful cultural appeal and now it was time for some relaxation and photography. Apart from having to wait for early evening for the bar to re-open due to dry election time (see my photo blog on Kochi), we enjoyed our stay at Zuri Resort & Spa.

The backwaters made for some fantastic photos complete with the gorgeous rice boats in which you can stay on and the scenic villages and untouched tropical landscapes along the way.

Included below, are a few shots of the resort and tropical garden surroundings.

ps....my participation, here on PB, will be very spotty, at best, from now through September, due to long a road trip, with little or no computer time.... I'll chime in, when I can....

It looks like a very colourful and peaceful place. Not the chaotic India I visited up North
