Rayville, Louisiana

Sorry I've been gone for a while. I've been searching for a house to buy. Now that the contract is in, I'm just waiting for the closing, so I thought I'd better post more photos from my Mississippi/Louisiana trip in April.

Rayville is a little place in north Lousiaina. For some reason, I kept running into stuff here to photograph. Unfortunately, it was high noon and the light was really bright, making for less than ideal conditions.

So if I'm not battling the sun, I'm battling power lines.

This was the Joy Theatre. The Cinema Treasure website says it opened before 1941. There were several Joy Theatres in Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississipii. I'm assuming they were all operated by the same company.

Love the architecture.

I especially like the sweeping sign.

It's like a secret garden in back.

As well as a mosquito hatchery.

The stage.

Great set! I really like #4. Looks much better-at a distance.
