The Porches Inn (North Adams, MA), and Williamstown

The Porches Inn - I can't recommend this hotel enough. It's 5 Victorian houses connected and remodeled with a long porch running along the front, and incredibly cozy and perhaps even somewhat decadent decor. It was a bit gray, but please see my May 11th photoblog entry and their website for way better photos of this incredible spot.

You can't quite tell from this photo, but it was snowing. Yes, in April. I was displeased. This shot is from the porch, looking directly across the street and the former factory that now houses Mass MoCA

The entrances to the guest rooms are in the first and second floor corridors in the now-enclosed space between the houses.

Those that know us probably won't be surprised that we played with my camera while waiting for our dinner, which was delicious. For the record, these shots were actually taken on April 4th, not the 5th. A plain candle, a simple glass of water, and the drink menu (which features a guavatini that I highly recommend). trust me, it's very funny. Photo: Brian D.

A sign we saw on Spring St. in Williamstown, MA. Turns out, by the way, that Williamstown is actually a bit more than 3 hours from Boston when you stop at the outlets in Lee on the way home … Photo: Brian D.

A church on Main St. in Williamstown, directly across from the Williams College Museum of Art.

Outside the front door of the Williams College Museum of Art. The list of east coast museums I've never been to grows ever shorter. Kudos to Williams College for having a STELLAR museum (photography strictly prohibited). An incredible and overwhelming treat …
