beckydaroff.com [beckydaroff.com] I joined a gym in the Longwood Medical Area because it's halfway between work and my new home. It's in the same neighborhood where I was born. It's also less than a block from Children's Hospital, which I visited a few times a year for about 20 years. I never knew anything about the area except the parking garage across the street, which was built when I was in elementary school, which I now pass regularly. My gym is in a Harvard research building, which by the look of it, was built around the time I graduated to a big-girl doctor. My new gym is also directly across the street from Boston Latin, which is both the first public school and oldest existing school in the United States. Boston Latin allows Gardner Museum volunteers to park in their lot for special events since the Gardner is a block away. A certain someone kissed me for the first time in that parking lot two years ago, after walking me to my car. And just a few more feet down the street is Harvard Medical School. This plaza is one of the more spectacular open spaces in Boston, and frankly this photo is pathetic compared to what I could do if I hadn't so badly wanted to get out of the freezing cold. These are sparkly columns in front of Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, right near the corner of Longwood Ave and Huntington.
