Triathon d'Yverdon / Neuchâtel

With my colleagues we have been planning to attend a triathlon this summer. Originally we wanted to register two relay teams, but it was difficult to find swimmers, so we ended up with one team with me doing the wet part.

I am not a good swimmer, but I thought that 500 meters shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately the weather got rather cold a few days before the race, and the swimming was scheduled to start at 8 o'clock, with the air being 8 degrees and the lake 18. Luckily David was able to provide me with a swimming suit which helped in the cold water, although it restricted my movements quite a bit. Anyway, I managed to swim around the buoys and get back to the shore, running to the area where Pascal was waiting to start the biking part. He did very well, recovered some of the time I lost, and handed it over to David who was our runner. Our Credit Suisse team finished in 1:29.24 [services.datasport.com], 5th in the men's relays of 7 teams, but also 13th overall of 31 relay teams. Not so bad from a bunch of first timers.

After the race we drove to Neuchâtel with the girls, to spend the day with sightseeing and have a nice lunch downtown.
