June 17th, 2009 - Supercell Thunderstorm in Central Nebraska

I was a relatively active storm chaser in 2009 - 2011. During those years I witnessed some amazing skies. One of my most memorable moments was this storm near Grand Island, Nebraska in 2009. The rotating updraft created beautiful striations or layers within the storm structure that I had not seen in such clarity before. This photo was taken shortly before the storm produced several tornadoes.

It will be thrilling to see the storm cloud that close to you. It's good that you were not hurt from those tornadoes. Amazing shot!
