My Best Photo 2016

by Ben Mckechnie December. 20, 2016 1955 views

I don't know about you, but these last few months have been racing by. There's hardly anything left of 2016! It's that time of year when newspapers, magazines, and online publications compile their 'Best of...' lists. It just so happens PhotoBlog has a similar tradition. Let's all share our single best photograph taken this year.

Rules:

  1. Choose your best photo: only one photo.
  2. Accompany your photo by a wish for the new year.
  3. Use the title: My Best Photo 2016
  4. Use the tag: best2016
  5. Post it on your blog before December 31st at 12 am Greenwich time (You have 7 more days if you miss this day. See here for more info).

Take a look at Ram's announcement for further details of how to take part.

Here's the photo I think is my best.

I took this photograph in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. On my travels through the length of the country, I noticed a recurring sight in the rural areas; a grandparent cradling a young child while the parents are away working in markets or fields. Little Hao (4) buried her head into her grandma’s shoulder, then turned around and burst out with a huge smile.

It's hard to choose just one wish for the new year. I hope that PhotoBlog goes from strength to strength, the community continues to grow and support each other, and I find what I'm looking for in India. I'll be spending much of 2017 there. I'm looking forward to seeing your best photo of the year. Cheers!

I have to say, that this photo stopped me. It is so beautiful to see that two generations here - Grandparent and Grandchild and the joy in both of their faces. I love the story that goes along with it. Thank you so much for bringing this into my world. Happy New Year!
