A Moment of Silent Reflection...

...was rudely disturbed by the sound of my shutter going off. Taken today in Gdansk, Poland.

This church still had a Christmas tree up on February 2nd.

Hey I live in Gdynia near Gdansk. Gdansk is my home - city. It is the old polish custom to have the Christmas tree in churches and at our houses till the 2 nd Feb, We also can sing our carrols till that data. Churches of Gdansk are fantastic - they were rebuilt after 2 WW russian soldiers ruined them. Maggie

Hi Maggie! Thanks for the info. 2nd Feb! Ah, I see. In the UK it's tradition to take the Christmas trees down on January 5th or 6th. Always interesting to learn about different cultures.

I was drawn to this scene like a moth to the light.

Love the shot. The light, the lady, the church, all come together so well. Nice capture!

Everyone needs a time & place like this for a spiritual "reboot".....

Thanks Jay! Where do you go for your reboot?

Living out on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State, I'm pretty much right in the best place to reboot, already. Pristine wilderness surrounds my little community. I can be away from all people & traffic in just a few minutes drive south, west, east or north. The Olympic Peninsula is almost entirely within the boundaries of the Olympic National Park (almost 1 million acres), the entrance of which is only about a mile south from my front door. To the north is the strait of Juan de fuca, which is a body of water that runs between the north coast of Washington & Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, connecting the Pacific Ocean to the Puget Sound. To the west is the west coast of Washington & the Pacific Ocean shore. To the east there isn't much in the way of population until you cross the Hood Canal connecting the Olympic Peninsula with the Kitsap Peninsula. From the Kitsap Peninsula, in order to get to the mainland of the Washington you must take a ferry or one of two bridges across the Puget Sound to Seattle, etc. So, as you can see, solitude & communing with Mother Nature is readily available for a quick & complete "reboot".......
