Baking christmas peppernuts

by Bergur Johannesen December. 19, 2008 3886 views

I actually have three, including this one, new entries that are ready for uploading, and I'm sure in the next days, I'll get even more.

Well, I chose this one because one is already late and I'm missing one picture in the other one. So remember to check back the next couple of days!

My beautiful Hertha is chopping the ginger

Here I am, pouring the flour

Yes, we also used cinnamon

And this is the dough

Making peppernuts is hard work

Have you ever seen a square peppernut?

The most important ingredient in every kitchen: Some lovin'

Mine were the square ones

While Hertha made beautiful round ones

Together they were many

Give them 180° C for about 10 minutes

250 grams of white flour
1/4 teaspoon ammonium hydrogencarbonate
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 clove
100 grams of butter
175 grams of sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons cream 38 % fat

Mix the flour and spices. Mix the sugar and egg, then add the cream. Mix the two mixtures and start making tiny round cookies/nuts.

And here they are - beautiful, brown and delicious!
