Drazovce (Slovakia) - 2017

Drazovce (Slovakia) nowadays is actually part of Nitra, but that's not important (not to me anyhow). The thing worth visiting in the village is the church of Saint Michael the Archangel. It is a romanesque church dating from the 12th century that might once have been at the centre of a fortified castle but that is now standing all alone on a big hill outside the city.

Long time for it to be standing up considering it's surroundings apparently did not make it.

Even in violent times there seems to be some divine protection (of whatever nature) for temples ... smile

Apparently the church was originally in the center of a castle, but strangely enough the castle is entirely gone and the church is still there.
