January 10 - Scarf (#PhotoBlog365)

Today's assignment should have been easy peasy. Honestly, how hard can it be to do something more or less creative with a scarf ?

Only problem: no scarf to be found. It has been years since I wore one and my girlfriend didn't leave one behind when she was at my place in the weekend (I didn't think about asking her). Been working from before sunrise till after sunset and didn't have the time to ask a colleague to lend a helping scarf. And since I travel to work and back by car, I've not even seen somebody wear a scarf.

So, some thinking outside the box was necessary. Meet mister Scarfinger, brother of Scarface and Goldfinger. After all, Scarf is half of Scarfinger ...

I'll admit that Italy is a little to the south of Flanders, but the Super North nevertheless is up higher smile

So true, how to photograph a scarf without it being boring, trite or looking like a mail-order catalog. Scarf is definitely one of the more challenging motives!

No need to feel pressured by this 365-thing, Sherry. The shooting or at least the idea behind it should remain fun smile

As for the story: a few years back I tried to climb over a big and rather pointy fence (I was member of an activist group back then). I managed to do that, but that finger got peeled like a banana because it got stuck on one of the pins when I jumped down on the other side. In hospital the banana and the peels got stitched together, but in the end I lost all the loosened skin anyway and got an interesting scar in return. No real harm done except for the fact that the scar is pretty hard and limits the flexibility of the finger. Maybe I should have thought about that before jumping into action with guys half my age ...smile

oh good, i was hoping you'd tell me the story, didn't want to come off rude asking..
and the first thing i thought was "cool, still climbing around like a kid" .. staying young at heart..
oddly enough, the first thing i do when i get hurt is take photos..
thanks for sharing.. and see, there was an interesting story attached.. wink

Well, I couldn't resist the "they always have a story" bait smile But, I have resisted climbing fences since then (hills, mountains, rocks and stairs are less pointy, so I still do that) ...
