Big ... First thing that crossed my mind was actually a song by Alphaville: Big in Japan. However, since Japan is not exactly nearby for me and the weather is (for a change) no good, the subject of this post had to be big in my living room.
So, I came up with the couple on the photo. They are not big compared to me, but they surely are big in a lot of other ways.
First of all Piglet is rather big compared to the figurine next to it, despite the fact that Piglet in the original Winnie the Pooh book says "It's a little Anxious to be a Very Small Animal Entirely Surrounded by Water."
But Piglet is big in another way too. Piglet is a piggy after all and a piggy in Dutch is ... "big".
And then there's Piglet's companion in the photo: she may be smaller than Piglet in my living room and on the photo, but she's a lot bigger in the environment where she comes from. She, of course, is not Gulliver, the main character of Jonathan Swift's novel Gulliver's Travels. But she is the female version of this character, a version drawn by the Italian comic book writer Milo Manara, Gulliveriana.
I've always been a ... big fan of Manara (I'm sure nobody draws sexier women than he does - here you can see him draw one), but undoubtedly Gulliveriana is his biggest character. At least on Lilliput island. A bit like this couple is big at my place ...
