Luik (or Liège as it's called in French) has a pretty long history. Nowadays however it's mainly known as ugly and poor, badly governed and for the biggest part not worth visiting.
Lots of European subsidies have been poured over it, some pretty megalomaniac projects have been financed with that (like the central station), while statues in the parc got restored by ... painting them over. The last remaining timbered houses are nearly unfindable between the ugly new constructions. And when hitting the parcs you have to take care not to step in needles left behind by drug addicts.
Is all of that true ? Yes. Are there still things worth seeing ? Yes. So, last year I finally drove to the city, paid a ridiculously high amount for parking my car under the station, and took a walk through the city.
In this post and the next two you'll find a selection of photos I made in the city. All my Luik photos are in this album on Pinterest.
