It ain't no boar, but close enough: it's a sow. And she's the mascot of one of the other villages making up the municipality of Hamme (you could read some more about that in yesterday's post): Zogge.
Why ? Because the name Zogge might come from the Middle Ages during which time there were lots of wild pigs in this area and De Sogh (the sow), the name of the area back then, could refer to that fact.
Of course there's other possible explanations for the name too, but this one just sounded best to the locals. And, honestly, knowing that Hamme (the main village) could mean ham, and that Moerzeke could mean sow's piss, why would one look any further ? :-)
