Villers-la-Ville (Wallonia) - The abbey

by Björn Roose July. 04, 2019 265 views

Villers-la-Ville is a municipality in Walloon-Brabant, a province of Wallonia. It's most famous for its abbey, which once was one of the most important cistercian abbeys of Europe. It was founded in 1147 and destroyed by the French troops in 1795. Nowadays it's an interesting ruin which I did however not visit on the "inside" since there was some festival going on there which I did not want to pay for. So here's some shots from a distance.
