Only 4 % of the world's population has some reason to celebrate it (and I should probably be deducting whatever remains of the native American population from this 4 % too, because they have very little to be thankful for). so true.. living on a Reserve in Canada, we never celebrated Thanksgiving [which is in Oct for Canada] as a holiday..

There's no reason indeed to be thankful for being robbed of a continent and being "given" a few reservations instead. The star-spangled banner does wave "over the land of the free and the home of the brave", but those brave and free were victim of an invasion and lasting occupation. I don't believe in collective guilt (or accomplishment or whatever), but knowing the facts no man or woman in his/her right mind should be celebrating Thanksgiving.
