Linz am Rhein was first mentioned (as Lincesce) in an official document in 874 and became a city in 1304 by decision of the Archbishop of Köln, Heinrich II of Virneburg. In 1391 a fire destroyed two thirds of the city; in 1475 it was occupied by the Emperor's troops during the so called Neuss War; in 1815 it became part of Prussia; in 1816 it became a Kreisstadt (district town); in 1822 it lost that title; and in 2019 (on January 2nd) the great Björn Roose visited it.

On that latter occassion these shots of two fountains were made :-)
