Berlin (Deutschland/Germany) - Alte Nationalgalerie - Franz von Lenbach

I shouldn't need to introduce the subject of this painting, Otto von Bismarck, but if necessary you can read about the first German Kanzler here. The painter, Franz Seraph Lenbach was a Ritter, not a Kanzler, but he was often referred to as the Malerfürst.

You'll find von Bismarck in this post too, by the way.

One of these days I need to bite the bullet and take an art history course (I had to choose music history or art history in college and wish I could have just taken both). Especially interesting noting the light in portraiture and paintings like this one.

Strange thing to separate the both actually. As if music is more than or not a form of art.
