Ante Starcevic may have thought so too. This "father of Croatia", politician and writer, founder of the Rights Party in 1861 and already a notorious opponent of a possible unity with the Serbs (something in which he was clearly right), has a nice place of honor on the adjacent square (named after him) and I cannot help but agree with his statement carved in several languages on the base of his statue: "More powerful than the Croatian people's right to self-determination are only the divine laws and nature." And that goes for every nation.
