One but last part of the Hameln mini series (here's 1, 2 and 3). We'll walk through the Alte Marktstrasse (with the former fire brigade building in #1 and the Kurie Jerusalem in #3) and have a beer in the Rattenkrug.
In that Rattenkrug, a historical pub, they were a little pissed about the fact that we didn't wish to eat (we always have sandwiches with us when travelling), but we did have a drink and took the time to look around. As I explained in the first part of this mini series Hameln is the city of the Pied Piper (or Rat-catcher) and the decoration in the Rattenkrug is entirely in the rat-theme.
In #2 you see the ways in which rats like to be catched (classical hacking, mosquito technique, Swiss cheese technique, Hamelner piping technique and some Bavarian ways), in #4 there's the sad story about the rat whose house has gone to ashes, and in #6 there's a Shakespearian rat.
