Kiszombor (Magyarország) - Rónay mansion
You'll find Kiszombor in the Csongrád County, on the Southern Great Plains (Hungary).
The village is over 800 years old and we were there to see the Rotunda, a church built in the 12th century with a circular ground plan. Only 3 such churches remain in Europe (all in Hungary). Alas, some brilliant mind in the second half of the 18th century had the idea to attach a "normal", rectangular church to it, which was later replaced by a big Roman Catholic church. So the Rotunda is not longer a separate object as such and they were working on it, so it was not worth shooting.
But we saw some bizarre building when we drove into the village. Rather factory-like looking thing, but with an interesting frontside. I made a few shots of it and just, when I started writing this post, found out what it was: the big Rónay mansion (there's a smaller one in the village too), built around 1858. Apparently there used to be a park around it, but communists thought that was too nice and destroyed it ...

Communism, it has perfected only one thing, destruction, building new things, not so clever.
That about sums it up, indeed.
