Verpelét (Magyarország/Hungary) - Vár-hegy - Summer 2020 - part 1

I have mentioned before that there has been volcanic activity in Hungary in relatively recent times and you have seen proof of that in a number of earlier posts (the basalt organs and ice cave in Raposka - here, here, here - and the remains of an extinguished volcano in Celldömölk - here, here and here).

In the summer of 2020 we visited another extinguished volcano. It must have given people the impression that there once was a castle on the hill, hence they called it Vár-hegy (castle hill).

Upon arriving there we found another Toyota, so I had the idea of making photo #1. Toyota gets you everywhere, even on a volcano :-) As long as politicians don't forbid travelling in the name of some stupid virus ...
