Sirok (Magyarország/Hungary) - Summer 2020 - part 1

by Björn Roose April. 17, 2021 395 views

You'll find close to nothing about Sirok on Wikipedia: "Sirok is a historic village (population 2,100) in Heves county in Hungary, situated near Eger in Mátra mountains". And: "Today it is most known for its 13th-century castle ruins".

That castle and the environment is most certainly worth a visit, but we'll start our visit with a walk around a small and interesting church (look at the windows in the tower) which we noticed on the way to that castle.

I didn't really like the wires in #2, but there would have been just too much to "magically" erase from the photo if I wanted to get rid of them ...

Interesting structure. Wonder if the inside is just as interesting.

I often wonder too. But churches in major parts of Europe are no longer open to visitors disappointed
