In the previous post I mentioned that the Wehrkirche Sankt Michael was open to visit again since 1968. However ... it was not on the day we were in town. Which was a shame, because I did want to see the so called Schädelpietá (skull pietá) from close by. The skulls on this altar are mostly the property of soldiers who died during the Battle of Loiben (or Battle of Dürenstein) in 1805, hence the bullethole in one of them, which you'll notice in #3.
But I got lucky and found a window which was not too dusty and offered me a view on the altar.
