Schallaburg (Österreich/Austria) - October 2020 - part 5

We entered the gallery in the previous post. And that gallery is definitely the most beautiful gallery I've ever seen in a castle: "a well-decorated two-storied arcaded court with elegant cantilevered staircases" as Wikipedia calls it, with decorations "in terracotta mosaic depicting mythological figures, gods, masks and human beings and animals". Most of these mosaic figures got severely damaged throught the ages, but the restoration was done very well, as you'll see in this post and the upcoming 5. Yes, that's a lot, but every one of them is different ...

Three different guys ... Look at the beards and the noses. There has to be a description of all the figures on the net somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look it up smile
