Nature Therapy - Part 1

Last year around this time, I took a week off to enjoy some solitude in nature. I rented a cabin on a quiet lake a few hours away from home and stayed there the whole week. Except for the few times when I drove to a small town nearby to get groceries, I was all by myself, alone amidst nature.

It was so relaxing and reinvigorating to be totally immersed in nature for a week. I saw deer along the lake shore early in the morning. I heard the cry of loons and wild dogs barking and howling in the distance. There was a woodpecker who would make such loud noises just behind the cabin even before sunrise. (At first, I thought it was the owner of the cabin doing some work on the property!) What a precious experience.

Regrettably, I didn't take as many photos as I should have, but I do have a few that I can share. I will group them into different posts, and in this one, I'll start with a few close-ups that I captured around the cabin.

Say hello to Kermit's cousin. This little frog was surprisingly patient and cooperative while I was trying to photograph it from different angles.

This is the ruckus-maker that woke me up early almost every morning.

This white flower is actually very small. I didn't see the tiny bug on it until I zoomed in after taking the picture.

I love this set and can totally relate. I'm blessed to be able to spend most of my summers on a lake in Maine. Best therapy ever!

I forgot to mention I love the title also because without nature therapy on a regular basis I get too cranky to even be around myself. I am not a soul that can live in a large city with no way to get "out in nature".

The therapeutic benefits of nature to our mental health is a proven fact. Regular doses of nature will certainly help us preserve our sanity. So go ahead, get out as often as you can.smile
