The Cabot Trail

One of the most memorable trips I have ever made was a drive along the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. This 300km stretch of winding coastal highway offers one of the most scenic drives in the world with stunning ocean views and highland scenery.

It was part of my quick tour of two Canadian Maritime provinces (New Brunswick and Nova Scotia), and I had only budgeted one day for this segment of my tour. Initially, I wasn't sure I had enough time to complete a full loop of this trail in one day (it's not just the driving time as I had to include time for all the scenic stops and photo shoots). However, after consulting with the staff at a tourist information centre, I decided that if I didn't try, I might not get another chance, so I went for it.

I'm so glad I did. The experience far exceeded my expectations. It was a bright and sunny day, and all along the trail, the scenery was just breathtaking. Let me share with you a few photos to give you a glimpse of what my eyes were blessed with on that day. I was tight on time, so I had to limit the number of stops and the time I took for photos.

This was the spot that I wanted to visit and photograph the most on the Cabot Trail because I had seen pictures of it in many places and was very much impressed by the scenery. I was fortunate enough to make it there just in time for a few shots at the golden hour.

Another scenic stop on the trail that I stumbled upon. It was not marked on the map, and I almost missed the turn off. It was a very pleasant surprise and a nice bonus.

Such tranquility and serenity, right by the roadside of the Cabot Trail.

This is where I started my tour of the Cabot Trail, my entry point into and exit point out of the loop. This picture was taken with my Moto G phone right by the roadside.

Thanks, Heike. Canada is really not that far from Germany. Just hop on a plane and you'll be here in less than 8 hours.grinning

Hehehe smile 8 hours is pure flight time. That is ok for me, but what I really hate is this hanging around on airports, waiting for security check (where everybody is treated like a potentional terrorist...),waiting for check In, waiting for boarding, waiting for transfer (if necessary...)..waiting waiting waiting... Since Star Trek in the 70th we all know that teleportation is existing, I wonder why we still have to put our feet into an airplane.... grin ;-)

smile I actually love flying because I love airplanes, but yeah, I hate the pre-flight, post-flight, and in between flights waiting and hassles as well. That's why I prefer longer flights because the short ones are just not worth the trouble.
