Fractal Shrubbery

Fractals are pretty fascinating patterns to look at. I'm not going to give a mathematical definition of what they are in this post (I don't know enough to do that anyway), but I have been able to create some interesting images from ordinary photos using fractal transformation, and here is one of them. Just don't ask me how exactly I did it because I really don't remember. I just took a photo of a shrub and played with it in Paint.NET until I got this result.

If I had created this image with higher resolution, you would have been able to see it at full screen with more detail at the center where the leaves keep getting smaller.

A wonderful image! I can’t wrap my brain around fractals, but sure enjoy looking at the patterns.

Thank you, Marsha. I don't understand fractals either, but just find them fascinating.

Hi Ros, yes, it is indeed fascinating. When I first discovered it, I was quite pleased with the results.

This is an eye-catching image at first glance, but it's even more rewarding when you take the time to study it. I like the detail of the shrub around the edges!

Thanks, Bethany. I should have created the image in higher resolution to capture even more detail. I have just added the original image for comparison.

Thank you for sharing that. It's a beautiful photo in itself, and impressive quality for a cell camera too!

Thanks, Sherry. 🙂 It's a grey and miserable winter day today, so I wanted to share a special green image of nature.
