Some Things Never Change

I don't really like figurines, but there is a pair in my possession that I cherish deeply. It was a Father's day gift from my daughter which she gave me with a card in which she had written, "... The artist purposely left them faceless so we can interpret it on our own and apply our own meaning and memories to it. To me, it means that no matter how much I grow up, I will always look up to you and be grateful for having you as my Dad ..."

The card also says, "It's so good to know that no matter what, I'll always be your little girl, and you'll always be my Daddy. I love you."

Yes, she will always be my little girl. Some things never change. 💗

Taken in the house where my daughter was born and where home was for the first 28 years of her life.

A gift that my daughter bought me while she was vacationing in the Caribbeans. Another wonderful piece of art depicting the sweet bond of love between a father and his daughter.

The father and daughter figurines are now displayed on top of my dresser in my retirement condo. (I haven't actually retired yet. A few more years, hopefully.)

Indeed. My husband's nickname for me is Turtle. I've always had my own sense of time and had to deal with people rushing me. grinning At one point I was embarrassed of that trait, but now I try to own it.

Yeah, you blink and they are all grown up. My little girl is 28 now and will be getting married in a few months. My nest will be empty soon.
