Silver Bullets

This photo was taken when I was exploring Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. These reddish stems with cute, fuzzy nubs caught my eye by the side of the road where I had parked my car. I have no idea what they are called. If you do, please leave a comment to let me know. Otherwise, I'll stick with "silver bullets" since that's what some of those fuzzy things look like to me. 😊

If you have been following me on my blog, you probably know that I love playing with photos to create artistic images. Here is one that I created from another photo of these pretty branches which was too blurry to be kept as is.

I went a bit crazy applying some extremely vibrant colours while playing with artistic filters.

Sherry beat me to the answer, pussy willow indeed. But Benny I have never seen them with red stems. There are some brown ones among the red in your photo, those are the ones I have always seen. I wonder if red is when they are young and then turn color? Either way I think they are beautiful and they are so hardy.

You ladies are so knowledgeable you put me to shame :)  I don't know why some stems are red while others are brown, but your theory sounds logical. I also think they are beautiful and perfect in an arrangement for home decor.

My mother used to have this large vase by the entrance to our house and she always had pussy willows in it. They needed no care, they were just beautiful and soft smile
