Monochrome Landscapes

by Benny Law February. 18, 2020 220 views

Following my previous post where I shared a few monochrome images of trees, here are some images of landscapes. Again, as I was doing the post-processing, I just wasn't too happy with them for one reason or another, so I tried to breathe some life into them by converting them to monochrome. I gave the first one a touch of sepia appearance, and in the last one, I left behind a tiny hint of colour. I hope you like them.

A high elevation lookout near Boulder in Colorado. I named this image "The Odd Couple" because of the two dissimilar trees standing side by side on the rocks.

Like all of them, but the one I keep staring at is #1. Like the different tones and patterns across the rooftops, and the light above contrasts so well.

I also like #1 the most out of these 3. Thanks for your support, Marsha.

First one is amazing. I live in Estoril, about 15 miles from Lisbon.

I can just agree with the previous commenters, #3 is awesome. Despite the title, I think that the rock formation with its texture and shadows is the secret star here smile If you'd allow me a little suggestion (and only if), I'd say that this picture would benefit if the upper left bushes that peak into the frame and distract a little would be cloned out - well knowing that it's not everybody's cup of tea to use cloning or erasing things in an image. Anyhow, I like this picture a lot.

I also like the contrast of all the dark roofs against the white buildings in #1, although seeming a little busy they make up some weirdly nice random pattern that's quite pleasant to look at.

Thanks for taking the time to leave me such great feedback! I absolutely cherish suggestions from other bloggers, and I have no problem removing unwanted objects to create better images. It's a great idea, and thanks again for pointing that out.

Lisbon is a very interesting place for photographers, not to mention the great food there. I will be posting more pictures from Lisbon.

Thanks for the feedback, my friend. I kind of stumbled upon this treatment when I was trying different options.

I use it sometimes, when i not want the strong Fuji colors.
