Horse & Rabbits

I love horses, and rabbits are cute. On my first trip to Africa for work purposes, I was happy to see some of these common but beautiful animals. Although I didn't get a chance to visit a game reserve to see the typical African wildlife, I did meet some wonderful local people and see the domestic animals they kept. Here are just a few of the animal photos I snapped. They were taken at a remote village on a mountain in Lesotho in 2008.

This horse was grazing near a small plot of maize field under the mid-morning sun. It was a very tranquil scene with many birds chirping all around. The air was cool and crisp. It was June which was winter in Lesotho.

I was visiting some residents in a village called Nazareth when I saw this rabbit. It was raised by the villagers and was allowed to roam freely. I saw some other rabbits which didn't enjoy the same freedom but were kept in cages. I have no idea why this one had this special privilege.

Another rabbit that was allowed to roam freely in the village. I'm not sure if this and the other one were a couple. 😊

I may have a few more to share on another post, but these images are some of my favorites from that trip. Hope you like them too.

Thanks, Buster! I guess those Canon point-and-shoot pocket cameras were decent enough 12 years ago. 🙂

I'm so glad you like them all, Camellia. That village was definitely peaceful and calm. It was situated on top of a mountain, and the view was awesome.

Pity you were not able to see the wild creatures in that part of the world. Love the pictures Benny

Thanks, Antonio. Somehow, I wasn't disappointed at all that I didn't get to visit a game reserve. I love wildlife, but those organized tours on jeeps packed with tourists just don't appeal to me. The trip was fulfilling enough to me in many other ways.
