London, UK (2)

This post is a continuation of my mini series on the city of London, UK. All photos were taken a few years ago with a Canon PowerShot ELPH 300HS pocket camera and re-processed in the past few days with Affinity Photo which I am still learning to use, but I am loving it more and more as I slowly get the hang of it.

Taken from the lobby of the hotel where I was staying. (Hotels in London are really pricey!) The structure across the street that looks like a flipped over canoe is a huge railway station.

I took this street shot on the first morning when I was walking with my manager to our first meeting with a government official. The venue was quite close to Buckingham Palace.

These handsome horses were harnessed to a glass carriage outside Westminster Abbey. I have no idea what the carriage was being used for. I didn't stay long enough to find out.

This is a monochrome version of the previous image. I like both and couldn't decide which one to post, so I ended up posting both. Let me know which one you prefer.

I shot this one through the glass of my hotel room window. That's a lot of railway tracks!

Candid shot of people enjoying a drink during happy hour at a riverside restaurant. I was having dinner with my manager on the other side of the glass. You can tell the presence of the glass by the solid circles printed on it.

I was walking back to the hotel after my first lunch when I stopped to take this one. Didn't expect to see fruit stalls like these on the street in London.

Hi Benny the no.3 is absolutely fantastic (well even the others are interesting, but that no.3 caught my full attention).

Nice variety of pictures! London's a really interesting city and yes, very expensive. I think I prefer the monochrome horses better than the colour #3, but it's a close call.
It looks like a horse-drawn hearse to me.

Really? I didn't see any casket inside the glass carriage, but maybe it was waiting to be loaded. It did cross my mind at some point since everything was draped in black. Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.

You so made me want to travel with these photos Benny smile. London is one of my favorite places to visit, and I can't tell you the number of times I have traveled there. The last time we were there, was many moons ago. My daughter was an exchange student in Manchester when she was in college and when her term ended, my husband and I went to Manchester to pick her up and then the three of us went to London for a  visit before returning home. Your comment about the hotels being expensive, reminded me of a conversation my husband and my daughter had while we were in London. (My daughter loves to party and she is one of those people who can balance work/party no matter what part of her life she in.) My husband asked her " Why did you chose Manchester for your exchange, program, why not London?" Her response....." Dad, I am no fool, I can have three beers in Manchester for the price of one in London!" Anyway, my husband and I were hoping to go to London for our 40th anniversary, which is coming up pretty soon, but it looks like it will have to be placed on the back burner for now. Thank you for sharing these photos, as always your photos seem to being back a lot of memories for me smile

Haha, I never thought my old photos would have that kind of effect on people, but I'm glad you enjoyed them. London was interesting to me, but everything was super expensive and it was hard to find good food. Maybe I was just looking in the wrong places. Congrats on your upcoming 40th anniversary, and I hope you and your husband have a great time celebrating in London when you can make that trip. Who knows, maybe they will drop the prices a bit after the pandemic to try to lure the tourists back.smile
