Men in Black

In this post, I am taking you back to my Lisbon series. I have been quite busy lately with work and other things, so I only had time to process these pictures to put together this short post. (I actually like short posts because they don't take too long to read and there is more time for the readers to look at each photo.) I hope you enjoy this one.

Taking a walk down the main street from my hotel with my colleagues (the "men in black"). The Portuguese people just love cobblestones, mosaics, and tiles which give the city a certain charm. Imagine how shady this street must be in the summer!

In certain parts of Lisbon, you can also see graffiti everywhere, on walls and even on trams (see my post on "Trams of Lisbon"). Here, the "men in black" had to stop halfway up the stairs to wait for me because I was stopping to take pictures. They must have been annoyed by my frequent stops.

An interesting contrast between the green palm leaves and the white bare branches. The tree in the middle with its dark branches kind of ruins the picture in my opinion. Do you agree, or do you think it adds interest?

If the picture were in B&w, I feel it would add some more interest...not a bad photo though. You're right, the contrast between the two different types of trees is really interesting! And for some reason, I really thought you were going to talk about some real men in black! LOL...I like your stories regardless. grinning

Thanks, G B. I'll include a monochrome version next time. I agree that photos of trees and branches are usually good candidates for B&W rendering. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. 🙂

re #3 - not really as the branches kind of curved and circled the palm tree.

The dark tree is no big distraction for me. It even acts as an additional contrast separating the white ones on the left & the green palm tree!

ps...thanks for "liking" my peaceful sunset image!

I like the tree in the middle.  It almost makes it look like you have two photos side by side..  Love the climate there.

Thanks for your feedback, David. Now I'm sitting on the fence regarding the tree. 😊

I truly like cobblestone roads/streets, if gives a special look to the area. But add mosaic and you have a great combination. Really like #1. I also like #2 because I love to look at street art, hope you took a few pics of the murals as well, otherwise I am commissioning you to go back and take some photos. 😉. In #3 I can't really decide if the tree in the middle ruins it or whether just brings the two together.

I do have a photo with a mural coming up, but I'll be glad to accept your commissioning as well.😁 I like your angle of the tree in the middle in #3. Never looked at it in that light before.

I agree it ruins the picture. But I love first one (Av da Liberdade)
