Exotic Fruit

Inspired by Camellia's post on the amazing and fuzzy fruit kiwi, here are some images of an exotic fruit that I had never handled or tasted until my daughter gave me a few to try last fall. I didn't even know its name, and after learning what it is, I still couldn't remember it. Do you know it?

This fruit really looks... exotic. Its flesh and taste is very similar to lychee which is a fruit that I love and miss.

I had to go back to the chat history with my daughter to look for the name of this fruit again. It's called rambutan. That's a lot harder to remember than kiwi. I'm pretty sure I will forget it again.

All original photos were captured in my kitchen and processed with IrfanView and Affinity Photo. For setup, I just placed the rambutan on the black cook top and turned on the lights in the range hood above. That's my poor man's studio. 😁

Shortly after these photos were taken, the rambutan was devoured by the photographer. That was the last one. 😋

Wonderful and colorful macro’s. I understand why you love color, if these photos are the result!

I believe black and white photography certainly has its place, but for me, I usually need colour to fully capture and express the beauty of the subjects. Thanks for your comments, Sabine.

I think it is a Rambutan. Is that exotic enough for you? There are caterpillars that look a bit like this too. I like 3 the best. Looks like an explosion.

It is indeed a rambutan which is as exotic as its look. Caterpillars? I'm not a fan of insects, even the colourful, exotic-looking ones. #3 is kind of an afterthought that I added later, but I like it also. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Unlike the Kiwi that I had heard of and actually eat, this one I have never heard of or have been able to taste, interesting captures, wish I could try one however its probably not in my area :-(

Thanks, Thomas. It's not common here either. It can only be found in some Asian stores, and I don't think it's available year round.

I had to look it up and according to what I read, this is another one of those SUPER fruits...great for the digestive, low in calories, etc....

#1 definitely grabbed my attention. The black background makes the springy, wiry, orange "hairs" stand out. But when I scrolled down and saw #3, my jaw dropped. I really like the edit. The focus is on the perfect spot with the rest of the "hair" all over the place.....like someone with a bad hair day. Anyway, excellent capture and play! Well done smile

Someone with a bad hair day? 😁 I'm probably that someone every day. My hair always looks like that in the morning. Thanks for inspiring me to dig up those photos, edit them, and post them.
