Breakfast To Go

Recently, Craig Casterline posted a photo titled Fast Food which captured a man and a girl eating while riding on a scooter on a busy road. It brought back memories of a trip I took in 2010 when I travelled to China with a church group from North America. We were invited by the Chinese government to visit a Christian seminary and some old church groups in Southern China, and I was asked to be an interpreter on that trip. It was an unforgettable experience.

On the last morning before I left, I went outside the hotel and took a few photos on the street. One of them captured a family grabbing some breakfast on the road as they were passing by some mobile food stalls. The whole family were travelling on a tricycle. Actually, many people were doing the same thing, grabbing a bite on the road as they were riding to work or wherever they were headed. It was quite an interesting sight.

The original photo is a bit grainy and blurry, so it was just filed away without being posted anywhere. When I saw Craig's photo, I immediately thought of my photo and the possibility that I might be able to breathe some life into it with the new tools that I have recently acquired. The following are the results of applying some transformation to it with the help of SPE (Smart Photo Editor).

Let me know which one you like the most (if you like any of them).

Thanks to Craig for inspiring me with his Fast Food post.

Thanks, JD. That trip was indeed an eye-opener and unforgettable in many ways. Lots of funny and embarrassing moments which I am not going to share here.

It's amazing what people can do, or what they think they can do, until they get into an accident!

I really can't decided between #1 and #2, both have their own unique qualities, so needless to say I like them both. Not sure why #3 does not grab me as much as the other two, maybe it's because the other two have a softness to them, whereas #3 is more harsh, more grainy? Not really sure but glad you were inspired to play and post. smile

Thanks, Camellia. I feel exactly the same way, but perhaps I like #1 a bit more since I always love watercolour. I am glad to have the opportunity to be inspired by others' work here.

That is an interesting shot and, though I haven't seen anything exactly like this, it looks very familiar. I think I like the edits to #3 the best. It gives it an old feel and covers for the graininess. Sounds like you had an interesting trip through southern China. I would have enjoyed being on that.

By the way, my photo is also of a family. It is easy to miss, but sandwiched between the man and woman is a child whose leg is sticking out.

That trip was a very unique experience and an eye-opener to me in many ways, but I was totally out of my comfort zone because of what I had to do. I was initially hesitant to go, but I felt that the Lord had spoken to me and wanted me to go. It's one of those experiences that when you look back, you are glad you did it but you wouldn't want to do it again.

I had to go back to your photo to look for the child whom I had not noticed before, and sure enough, there was his leg! 😄 And I thought the female was the man's daughter!
