"Up Close"

One of my favorite things to do when I get the opportunity to visit friends and family on Kauai is to get out and spend sometime shooting the ocean. Kauai has so many amazing things to see and experience no matter the season.

During the winter season, along the north and west facing shores, the surf can reach epic heights and conditions. On this day the surf was decent size, but not to large to get close to and watch carefully from the shore. I captured this image using a Canon 5D Mark III and a Sigma 150-600mm lens to safely get a close up view of the crashing surf. At this location from noon until sunset, under the proper conditions the sunlight lights up the waves revealing brilliant color that is often hard to observe.

In this image the light penetrates through the fury and chaos of a crashing wave to reveal color and beauty. When the light shines through and illuminates, what is seen can be truly breathtaking and unique. The same is true for people. Shine on my friends and make the world a beautiful place because you let the light shine through you.
